Description
A delightful, quick-cooking dish featuring shrimp and broccoli coated in a glossy honey garlic sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 large head of broccoli, cut into bite-sized pieces (about 5-6 cups of florets)
- 1/4 cup liquid honey
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
- 2 tablespoons green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Begin by preparing the sauce. In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Set aside.
- Prepare the shrimp and broccoli, ensuring shrimp are thawed and pat dry with paper towels. Wash and cut broccoli into uniform florets.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli and stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp. Remove from skillet.
- Increase the heat to high, add remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil and then the shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
- Reduce heat to medium and pour the prepared sauce into the skillet. Cook for 1-2 minutes until it thickens.
- Add the cooked broccoli and shrimp back into the skillet, tossing everything to coat evenly in the sauce.
- Serve immediately, garnishing with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
Perfect with rice, quinoa, or noodles. Toast sesame seeds for added flavor.
