Description

A delightful, quick-cooking dish featuring shrimp and broccoli coated in a glossy honey garlic sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into bite-sized pieces (about 5-6 cups of florets)
  • 1/4 cup liquid honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Begin by preparing the sauce. In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the shrimp and broccoli, ensuring shrimp are thawed and pat dry with paper towels. Wash and cut broccoli into uniform florets.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli and stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp. Remove from skillet.
  4. Increase the heat to high, add remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil and then the shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  5. Reduce heat to medium and pour the prepared sauce into the skillet. Cook for 1-2 minutes until it thickens.
  6. Add the cooked broccoli and shrimp back into the skillet, tossing everything to coat evenly in the sauce.
  7. Serve immediately, garnishing with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.

Notes

Perfect with rice, quinoa, or noodles. Toast sesame seeds for added flavor.
