Quick, vibrant, and full of flavor, these Honey Garlic Shrimp Bowls combine shrimp with a rich honey and garlic glaze, fresh broccoli, and a choice of rice or quinoa for a delightful weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce (or tamari for a gluten-free option)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cups cooked white rice, brown rice, or quinoa
- 1 cup broccoli florets, steamed or sautéed
- ¼ cup green onions, finely sliced
- Optional: sesame seeds or crushed red pepper flakes for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Whisk until smooth.
- Cook the Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and curled.
- Glaze with the Sauce: Pour the honey garlic mixture into the skillet with the shrimp and allow it to bubble and thicken slightly.
- Steam or Sauté Veggies: While the shrimp cook, steam or sauté the broccoli until bright green and tender.
- Build Your Bowl: Scoop the cooked rice or quinoa into each bowl and top with honey garlic shrimp and broccoli. Garnish with green onions and optional toppings.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the shrimp in part of the honey garlic mixture for about 30 minutes before cooking. Adjust spice levels by adding crushed red pepper flakes or sriracha if desired.
