Description

Discover how to make delicious Hoisin Shrimp with this easy recipe. Learn the secrets to creating a flavorful and savory dish that will impress your taste buds.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) soy sauce
  • 1 lb. (450 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • salt and black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
  • (optional toppings: toasted sesame seeds, thinly-sliced green onions)

Instructions

  1. Stir together the hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and soy sauce in a small bowl until well mixed. Place aside.
  2. Dry the shrimp thoroughly using a paper towel. Sprinkle both sides with salt and black pepper.
  3. Warm the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Arrange half of the shrimp in a single layer in the pan. Cook for approximately 2-3 minutes on each side or until they turn pink and are fully cooked. Use a slotted spoon to move them to a different plate. Repeat the process with the remaining shrimp.
  4. After the second set of shrimp is cooked, return the first batch to the pan along with the hoisin sauce mixture. Cook together for another 1-2 minutes, stirring until the shrimp are well coated and the sauce is heated. Take off the heat and garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve warm with rice, quinoa, noodles, or vegetables.

Notes

  • Dry the shrimp thoroughly before seasoning to achieve a crispy exterior when cooking.
  • Cook the shrimp in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan, ensuring the best texture and flavor.
  • Customize toppings with ingredients like chopped peanuts or cilantro for a unique flavor profile.
