Description
Delicious Hawaiian garlic shrimp enveloped in a rich garlic butter sauce, balancing savory and tropical flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ cup fresh pineapple juice
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional garnishes: pineapple chunks, lime wedges, extra cilantro
Instructions
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter and olive oil until bubbling. Sauté the minced garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Increase heat to medium-high and add the shrimp, cooking for 2-3 minutes on one side until just starting to turn pink. Flip the shrimp.
- Pour in the pineapple juice, soy sauce, honey or brown sugar, ground ginger, and lime juice. Stir well and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are completely opaque.
- Remove from heat, sprinkle with chopped cilantro, and serve immediately garnished with optional pineapple chunks and lime wedges.
Notes
For a more intense flavor, marinate shrimp in the sauce for 15 minutes before cooking. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the skillet.
