Description

Delicious Hawaiian garlic shrimp enveloped in a rich garlic butter sauce, balancing savory and tropical flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ cup fresh pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional garnishes: pineapple chunks, lime wedges, extra cilantro

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter and olive oil until bubbling. Sauté the minced garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase heat to medium-high and add the shrimp, cooking for 2-3 minutes on one side until just starting to turn pink. Flip the shrimp.
  4. Pour in the pineapple juice, soy sauce, honey or brown sugar, ground ginger, and lime juice. Stir well and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are completely opaque.
  5. Remove from heat, sprinkle with chopped cilantro, and serve immediately garnished with optional pineapple chunks and lime wedges.

Notes

For a more intense flavor, marinate shrimp in the sauce for 15 minutes before cooking. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the skillet.
