Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp (cleaned and deveined, shell on)
- Lemon wedges
- 1/2 cup potato/corn starch
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 4 tbsp neutral oil (for frying)
- 4 tbsp butter
- 10-15 cloves garlic (minced; adjust amount to preference)
- 1/2 tsp paprika (for seasoning)
- 1/4-1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp pepper
Instructions
- Clean the shrimp by rinsing under cold water, deveining if necessary, but leaving the shell on.
- Mix the dredge by combining potato or corn starch, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Coat the shrimp in the dredge mixture until evenly coated.
- Heat neutral oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until crispy and golden brown.
- Prepare the garlic butter by melting butter in the pan and adding minced garlic, cooking until fragrant.
- Add remaining seasonings to the garlic butter mixture and stir to combine.
- Coat the fried shrimp in the garlic butter sauce and serve with white rice and lemon wedges.
Notes
For a spicier flavor, add cayenne pepper to the dredge mixture. Use fresh garlic for enhanced flavor.
