Description

Experience the vibrant flavors of Hawaii with this easy Hawaiian garlic shrimp recipe, featuring crispy shrimp coated in a rich garlic butter sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp (cleaned and deveined, shell on)
  • Lemon wedges
  • 1/2 cup potato/corn starch
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 4 tbsp neutral oil (for frying)
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 10-15 cloves garlic (minced; adjust amount to preference)
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (for seasoning)
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Clean the shrimp by rinsing under cold water, deveining if necessary, but leaving the shell on.
  2. Mix the dredge by combining potato or corn starch, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Coat the shrimp in the dredge mixture until evenly coated.
  4. Heat neutral oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  5. Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until crispy and golden brown.
  6. Prepare the garlic butter by melting butter in the pan and adding minced garlic, cooking until fragrant.
  7. Add remaining seasonings to the garlic butter mixture and stir to combine.
  8. Coat the fried shrimp in the garlic butter sauce and serve with white rice and lemon wedges.

Notes

For a spicier flavor, add cayenne pepper to the dredge mixture. Use fresh garlic for enhanced flavor.
