Description
A vibrant and beautifully prepared tuna steak that captures the essence of summer dining with its flavorful marinade and simple preparation.
Ingredients
- 60ml water
- 30ml lemon juice
- 60ml soy sauce
- 45ml sesame oil
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1 tsp thyme
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 113g fresh tuna steaks
Instructions
- Mix the water, lemon juice, soy sauce, sesame oil, cardamom, thyme, black pepper, and minced garlic in a bowl to create the marinade.
- Place the fresh tuna steaks into a zip-lock bag and pour the marinade over them, seal the bag, and gently mix to coat the tuna evenly. Marinate for 20 minutes, flipping once halfway through.
- Heat a heavy skillet over medium-high heat and remove the tuna from the marinade, letting excess drip off.
- Sear the tuna steaks for about 2 minutes on each side, brushing lightly with the marinade during cooking.
- Once the internal temperature reaches 52°C, remove from heat and allow to rest for 2 minutes before slicing or serving.
Notes
A hot skillet ensures a beautiful sear. Consider experimenting with additional spices like ginger or chili, and serve with a fresh salad or grilled vegetables.
