Ingredients
- 454 g jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 80 ml cornstarch or potato starch
- 5 ml garlic powder
- 6 ml black pepper
- 60 ml vegetable oil or any neutral oil
- 1 green onion, finely chopped for optional garnish
- 5 ml sesame seeds, optional garnish
- 15 ml gochujang
- 15 ml honey
- 5 ml sesame oil
- 5 ml soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 15 ml cornstarch or potato starch
- 120 ml water, cold
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the shrimp with cornstarch, garlic powder, and black pepper, and mix gently. Ensure that each piece of shrimp is thoroughly covered with the cornstarch mixture.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the ingredients for the Gochujang Sauce as specified above until they are fully blended. Set this mixture aside.
- Next, heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the shrimp until they achieve a crispy and golden appearance on both sides.
- Lower the heat to a low-medium setting. Stir the sauce again to incorporate any settled cornstarch from the bottom of the bowl, then pour it over the shrimp. Gently toss the shrimp with the sauce, being careful not to overmix, as this could cause the coating to fall off. Optionally, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, then serve and enjoy!
