Ingredients

  • 1 cup (200g) jasmine rice, cooked and cooled
  • 2 tablespoons (30g) gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup (75g) green peas, thawed if frozen
  • 1/2 cup (75g) red bell pepper, diced
  • 8 oz (225g) cooked shrimp
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste


Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and finely chopped onion to the skillet.
  3. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the diced red bell pepper and green peas to the skillet.
  5. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  6. Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet.
  7. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the empty side of the skillet.
  8. Pour the lightly beaten eggs into the skillet.
  9. Scramble the eggs gently until they are just set.
  10. Mix the scrambled eggs with the vegetables.
  11. Add the cooked and cooled jasmine rice to the skillet.
  12. Stir in the gochujang and soy sauce, ensuring the rice is evenly coated.
  13. Add the cooked crab meat to the skillet.
  14. Toss everything together and cook for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  15. Drizzle the sesame oil over the fried rice and stir well.
  16. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  17. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

  • Adjust the amount of gochujang to suit your desired level of spiciness.
