Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (450 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) ginger, minced (30 grams)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) soy sauce (15 milliliters)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) honey (15 milliliters)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil (30 milliliters)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) sesame oil (5 milliliters)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice (15 milliliters)
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) black pepper
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, lemon juice, and black pepper.
  2. Add shrimp to the bowl and mix to coat evenly.
  3. Let shrimp marinate for 15 minutes.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add minced ginger and garlic to the skillet, sauté for 1 minute.
  6. Add marinated shrimp to the skillet in a single layer.
  7. Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes on one side until pink.
  8. Flip shrimp and cook for another 2-3 minutes until fully cooked.
  9. Drizzle sesame oil over the shrimp and stir to combine.
  10. Remove skillet from heat and add chopped green onions.
  11. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the shrimp, if using.
  12. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Consider enhancing the marinade with a touch of rice vinegar for added depth of flavor.
  • Ensure the shrimp is thoroughly dried before marinating to achieve a perfectly seared finish.
  • Avoid overcrowding the skillet to promote even cooking and a beautifully caramelized crust.
