Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) (450 grams) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 pound (454 g) (450 grams) sea scallops, patted dry
- 8 ounce (227 g) s (225 grams) fettuccine pasta
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) (60 grams) unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup (240 ml) (240 milliliters) heavy cream
- 1 cup (240 ml) (100 grams) grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s (30 milliliters) olive oil
- 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s (8 grams) chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) red pepper flakes (optional )
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
- Drain the pasta and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season shrimp and scallops with salt and black pepper.
- Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque.
- Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add scallops and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and opaque.
- Remove scallops from the skillet and set aside with shrimp.
- Reduce the heat to medium and add butter to the same skillet.
- Once butter is melted, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Gradually whisk in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Add red pepper flakes, if using, and season sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Return cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
- Add shrimp and scallops back to the skillet and gently toss to combine.
- Sprinkle with chopped parsley and stir to incorporate.
- Remove from heat and let sit for a minute to thicken.
- Serve immediately while hot.
