Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) (450 grams) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 pound (454 g) (450 grams) sea scallops, patted dry
  • 8 ounce (227 g) s (225 grams) fettuccine pasta
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) (60 grams) unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (240 ml) (240 milliliters) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (240 ml) (100 grams) grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s (30 milliliters) olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s (8 grams) chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) red pepper flakes (optional )


Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Drain the pasta and set aside.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Season shrimp and scallops with salt and black pepper.
  6. Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque.
  7. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  8. In the same skillet, add scallops and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and opaque.
  9. Remove scallops from the skillet and set aside with shrimp.
  10. Reduce the heat to medium and add butter to the same skillet.
  11. Once butter is melted, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  12. Stir in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
  13. Gradually whisk in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  14. Add red pepper flakes, if using, and season sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.
  15. Return cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
  16. Add shrimp and scallops back to the skillet and gently toss to combine.
  17. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and stir to incorporate.
  18. Remove from heat and let sit for a minute to thicken.
  19. Serve immediately while hot.
