Description

Crispy fried cod with a golden exterior and tender inside, perfect for weeknight dinners or family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Fresh cod fillets
  • Flour
  • Cornstarch (optional)
  • Bread crumbs or panko
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Pat the cod fillets dry and season them with salt and pepper.
  2. Set up a breading station with three bowls: one with flour, one with a beaten egg mixed with milk, and one with bread crumbs.
  3. Dredge the cod fillets in flour, dip in the egg mixture, then coat with the bread crumbs.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat until shimmering.
  5. Fry the coated cod fillets for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Transfer cooked fillets to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

For a crunchier exterior, mix cornstarch with flour and let the coated fillets sit briefly before frying.
