Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) (450 grams) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil (30 milliliters)
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) soy sauce (45 milliliters)
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) honey (45 milliliters)
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) chili paste or sauce (30 milliliters)
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground ginger (5 grams)
- 1 lime, juiced
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Wooden or metal skewers
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine olive oil, soy sauce, honey, chili paste, minced garlic, ground ginger, lime juice, salt, and black pepper.
- Whisk the mixture until well combined to create the marinade.
- Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the bowl with the marinade.
- Toss the shrimp until they are evenly coated with the marinade.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to marinate.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated shrimp onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each shrimp.
- Place the shrimp skewers on the preheated grill.
- Grill the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are opaque and cooked through.
- Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Serve the firecracker shrimp skewers hot with extra lime wedges if desired.
