Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) (450 grams) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil (30 milliliters)
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) soy sauce (45 milliliters)
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) honey (45 milliliters)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) chili paste or sauce (30 milliliters)
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground ginger (5 grams)
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Wooden or metal skewers


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine olive oil, soy sauce, honey, chili paste, minced garlic, ground ginger, lime juice, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Whisk the mixture until well combined to create the marinade.
  3. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the bowl with the marinade.
  4. Toss the shrimp until they are evenly coated with the marinade.
  5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to marinate.
  6. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  7. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  8. Thread the marinated shrimp onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each shrimp.
  9. Place the shrimp skewers on the preheated grill.
  10. Grill the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are opaque and cooked through.
  11. Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
  12. Serve the firecracker shrimp skewers hot with extra lime wedges if desired.
