Description

Learn how to make delicious and flavorful Easy Szechuan Shrimp at home with this simple recipe. Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal!

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp (60 ml) water
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) ketchup
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) soy sauce
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) cornstarch
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) honey
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) crushed red pepper
  • 1/4 tsp (1.25 ml) ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) sliced green onions
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 oz (340 g) cooked shrimp, tails removed

Instructions

  1. Combine the water, ketchup, soy sauce, cornstarch, honey, crushed red pepper, and ground ginger in a small bowl, mixing thoroughly. Set this mixture aside.
  2. In a large frying pan, warm up the oil over medium-high heat. Add the green onions and garlic to the heated oil and sauté until you can smell their aroma, which should take around 30 seconds. Add the cooked shrimp, ensuring they are well-coated with oil. Pour in the sauce mixture prepared earlier. Continuously stir until the sauce becomes bubbly and reaches a thicker consistency.

Notes

  • Thoroughly coat the cooked shrimp with the sauce for maximum flavor.
  • Be cautious not to overcook the shrimp to prevent toughness.
  • Adjust crushed red pepper to suit your desired level of spiciness.
