Ingredients
- 4 oz (113 g) crab meat
- 6 oz (170 g) shrimp
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
- 1 large red pepper, roughly chopped
- 1 medium onion, roughly chopped
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) garlic, minced
- 8 oz (227 g) tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) hot sauce
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Old Bay
- 2 cups (480 ml) coconut milk
- 1/3 cup (40 g) vegan cheese, grated
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) chives, chopped
- salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Carefully inspect the crab meat to eliminate any shell fragments. Detach the tails and legs from the shrimp and devein them.
- Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Toss in the chopped red pepper and onion, cooking for 5-7 minutes until they become soft. Incorporate the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Pour in the tomato sauce, hot sauce, Old Bay seasoning, and coconut milk. Stir until everything is well-blended, then add the crab and shrimp. Allow the mixture to reach a boil, then lower the heat to simmer.
- Move the bisque into a food processor or a high-speed blender and blend until it becomes smooth.
- Serve in a bowl, topping with grated vegan cheese. Sprinkle chopped chives over the top and season with salt and pepper according to your taste.
