Ingredients
- 1½ lb sirloin steak, cut into ¼-inch thick slices
- ⅓ cup cornstarch
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- Red pepper flakes (to taste)
- ⅓ cup soy sauce
- ½ cup water
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 2 green onions (green parts only)
Instructions
- Slice the steak into ¼-inch thick pieces and cover with plastic wrap, gently pound with a meat mallet to thin.
- Place the sliced steak in a ziplock bag with cornstarch, massage to coat evenly.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the steak slices in a single layer for 30 seconds per side in batches.
- Remove the steak and season with salt.
- Sauté ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes in the same pan for 10-15 seconds.
- Add soy sauce, water, and brown sugar, bringing to a boil.
- Return the steak to the pan, thicken the sauce over 20-30 seconds.
- Add sliced green onions and mix well.
