Description

Discover how to make delicious Easy Hoisin Shrimp at home with this simple and flavorful recipe. Learn the secrets to perfectly cooked shrimp in a savory hoisin sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) soy sauce
  • 1 lb. (450 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • salt and black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
  • (optional toppings: toasted sesame seeds, thinly-sliced green onions)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, blend together the hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and soy sauce until smooth. Set this mixture aside.
  2. Use a paper towel to dry the shrimp thoroughly, then sprinkle both sides with salt and pepper for seasoning.
  3. Warm the olive oil in a large sauté pan set over medium-high heat. Arrange half of the shrimp in a single layer in the pan. Cook them for approximately 2-3 minutes on each side, until they turn pink and are fully cooked. Use a slotted spoon to move the cooked shrimp to a different plate. Repeat this process with the remaining shrimp.
  4. After the second batch of shrimp is done, return the first batch to the sauté pan and pour in the hoisin sauce blend. Cook everything together for 1-2 minutes, stirring to ensure the shrimp are well covered and the sauce is heated. Take the pan off the heat and garnish the shrimp with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve the dish warm over your choice of rice, quinoa, noodles, or vegetables.

Notes

  • Thoroughly pat dry shrimp before seasoning for a crispy exterior.
  • Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure even cooking and a nice sear.
  • Customize with favorite toppings or pair with preferred base for a complete meal.
