A flavor-packed grilled octopus recipe that captures the essence of the ocean, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds fresh octopus (baby, medium, or large)
- Olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
- Juice from 1 lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 2 tsp chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Place the octopus in a pot and cover it with enough water.
- Bring to a boil and cook for approximately 40 minutes, checking for tenderness.
- Once cooked, remove the octopus from the pot and rinse under cold water.
- Place it in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil; add the chopped garlic.
- Let the octopus cool at room temperature for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Preheat the gas grill to medium-high heat.
- Slice the octopus tentacles into manageable pieces.
- Grill the tentacles for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until they develop a charred exterior.
- After grilling, drizzle with olive oil and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top.
- Season with salt and pepper, and optionally sprinkle dried oregano and chopped parsley for added flavor.
