Description

A flavor-packed grilled octopus recipe that captures the essence of the ocean, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh octopus (baby, medium, or large)
  • Olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
  • Juice from 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Place the octopus in a pot and cover it with enough water.
  2. Bring to a boil and cook for approximately 40 minutes, checking for tenderness.
  3. Once cooked, remove the octopus from the pot and rinse under cold water.
  4. Place it in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil; add the chopped garlic.
  5. Let the octopus cool at room temperature for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the gas grill to medium-high heat.
  7. Slice the octopus tentacles into manageable pieces.
  8. Grill the tentacles for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until they develop a charred exterior.
  9. After grilling, drizzle with olive oil and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top.
  10. Season with salt and pepper, and optionally sprinkle dried oregano and chopped parsley for added flavor.
  11. Serve hot, and enjoy this delicious dish!

Notes

Marinating the octopus in olive oil, garlic, and lemon juice before grilling can enhance its flavor.
