Description

Learn how to make a delicious and easy crab bisque that you can freeze for later enjoyment. Perfect for seafood lovers!

Ingredients

  • 450 g crab meat
  • 2 tablespoons (28 g) vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons (24 g) all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups (710 ml) chicken broth
  • 1 cup (240 ml) coconut cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 g) salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 g) black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon (0.5 g) cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon (3 g) chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and garlic, stirring constantly for 2 minutes.
  5. Gradually pour in the chicken broth, whisking to prevent lumps.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Add the crab meat to the pot and stir well.
  8. Pour in the heavy cream and mix until fully combined.
  9. Season the bisque with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  10. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  11. Stir in the lemon juice and chopped fresh parsley.
  12. Remove the pot from heat and let the bisque cool slightly.
  13. Transfer the bisque to containers, leaving space at the top for expansion if freezing.
  14. Seal the containers and freeze until ready to use.

Notes

  • Thoroughly inspect and remove any shells or cartilage from the crab meat before adding it to the bisque.
  • Consider using homemade chicken broth or a high-quality store-bought version for a more flavorful dish.
  • Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to your taste preference, as its intensity can vary.
