- – 1/2 tsp (3 ml) Black Pepper
- – 1/2 tsp (3 ml) Chinese Five Spices
- – 1/4 tsp (1 ml) Beef powder (optional)
Instructions
- In a small container, blend together the salt, black pepper, and Chinese five-spice powder thoroughly, then put aside.
- Season the prawns with salt, white pepper, corn starch, and water, ensuring they’re well coated before setting them aside.
- Individually coat each seasoned prawn in corn starch, shaking off any surplus before frying.
- Pour vegetable oil into a medium-sized pot to a depth of 2-3 inches. Heat the oil to approximately 350°F.
- Fry the coated prawns in the heated oil for 2-3 minutes until they achieve a crispy golden-brown texture. Take them out of the oil and let them drain on a cooling rack.
- Using a large wok or pan, warm a bit of oil over medium heat and sauté the garlic and onions.
- Add the bell peppers next, cooking briefly, then stir in the crushed chilies.
- Introduce the fried prawns to the pan, sprinkling them with the pre-mixed seasoning powder. Complete by adding the spring onions.
- Stir everything together for about a minute to ensure even distribution. Serve immediately and enjoy!
