Description

Delightful crispy bites made from sushi rice, perfect for sharing as a savory snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups short-grain sushi rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Cooking oil for frying
  • Toppings of your choice (e.g., avocado, ginger, fish, vegetables)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for 18 minutes, then remove from heat and let sit covered for another 10 minutes.
  3. Fluff the rice with a fork, then mix in the rice vinegar and sugar. Allow the rice to cool slightly.
  4. Once cool, shape the rice into small patties or squares.
  5. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Fry the rice patties until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  6. Remove from the pan and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Top with your favorite sushi toppings and serve.

Notes

For best results, make sure to form uniform patties for even cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in a skillet for optimal crispiness.
