Description
Delightful crispy bites made from sushi rice, perfect for sharing as a savory snack.
Ingredients
- 2 cups short-grain sushi rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Cooking oil for frying
- Toppings of your choice (e.g., avocado, ginger, fish, vegetables)
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a pot, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for 18 minutes, then remove from heat and let sit covered for another 10 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork, then mix in the rice vinegar and sugar. Allow the rice to cool slightly.
- Once cool, shape the rice into small patties or squares.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Fry the rice patties until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
- Remove from the pan and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Top with your favorite sushi toppings and serve.
Notes
For best results, make sure to form uniform patties for even cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in a skillet for optimal crispiness.
