Ingredients
- 4 pieces of cod fillets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup beer or sparkling water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 large potatoes
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions

- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, combine flour, salt, and pepper. Dip each cod fillet into the flour, followed by the beer or sparkling water, and finally coat them with breadcrumbs until fully covered.
- Fry the cod fillets in the hot oil until they turn golden brown and are cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the cod and let them drain on paper towels.
- Fry the soaked chips in the same oil until golden and crispy, around 5-7 minutes. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
- Serve the crispy cod and chips with lemon wedges.
Notes
Consider double-breading the cod fillets for extra crispiness. Serve with tartar sauce or a side salad for added flair.
