Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) large prawns, peeled and deveined (450 grams)
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) cornstarch (30 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt (5 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground white pepper (2 grams)
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper (1 gram)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder (3 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Chinese five-spice powder (2 grams)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil (15 milliliters)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 fresh red chili, sliced
- 1 fresh green chili, sliced
Instructions
- Pat the prawns dry with paper towels.
- In a bowl, combine cornstarch, salt, white pepper, black pepper, garlic powder, and Chinese five-spice powder.
- Add the prawns to the bowl and toss to coat them evenly with the spice mixture.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the prawns to the skillet in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until crispy and pink.
- Remove the prawns from the skillet and set them aside on a plate.
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the sliced green onions, red chili, and green chili to the skillet.
- Stir-fry the vegetables for 1-2 minutes until they are slightly softened.
- Return the prawns to the skillet and toss everything together for about 1 minute.
- Serve the prawns hot, garnished with the cooked vegetables.
