Ingredients
- 1 cup grits
- 4 cups water or chicken broth
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- In a pot, bring water or chicken broth to a boil. Gradually whisk in the grits and reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring frequently, until thickened (about 20-25 minutes). Stir in heavy cream, cheese, butter, salt, and pepper.
- In a pan, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add shrimp and sprinkle with Cajun seasoning. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until the shrimp are cooked through.
- Serve the creamy grits in a bowl topped with Cajun-spiced shrimp and garnish with chopped green onions.
