Description

A comforting dish of creamy Southern grits topped with vibrant Cajun-spiced shrimp that captures the essence of home-cooked goodness.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup grits
  • 4 cups water or chicken broth
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a pot, bring water or chicken broth to a boil. Gradually whisk in the grits and reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring frequently, until thickened (about 20-25 minutes). Stir in heavy cream, cheese, butter, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a pan, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add shrimp and sprinkle with Cajun seasoning. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until the shrimp are cooked through.
  3. Serve the creamy grits in a bowl topped with Cajun-spiced shrimp and garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

For the best results, start with a hot pan when cooking the shrimp, and adjust the Cajun seasoning based on your heat preferences. Serve with crusty bread or a side salad.
