Description

A comforting dish featuring succulent shrimp in a creamy garlic sauce served over buttery mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • Fresh thyme leaves (for garnish)
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup butter
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil the cubed potatoes in salted water for about 15 minutes, or until fork-tender. Drain and mash with butter and warm milk until smooth, adding salt to taste.
  2. Season the shrimp with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Sear the shrimp in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink, then remove from skillet.
  4. Melt butter in the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream, stir in Parmesan cheese and Dijon mustard (if using), then season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  6. Plate a portion of the mashed potatoes, top with seared shrimp, and pour creamy garlic sauce over. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves and serve warm.

Notes

Use fresh herbs for enhanced flavor and don’t skip the seasoning. Optionally add red pepper flakes for a kick.
