Description

A comforting crab and shrimp casserole featuring a creamy sauce and rich seafood flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 lb crabmeat (fresh or canned)
  • 1 cup celery (diced)
  • 1/2 cup onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for the sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for the roux)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (grated)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (for topping)
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Begin by combining the shrimp, crabmeat, celery, onion, and minced garlic in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Stir everything together until well mixed.
  3. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  5. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring continuously for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat, then stir in the mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  7. Pour the creamy sauce over the seafood mixture, mixing until everything is evenly coated.
  8. Transfer this combined mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  9. Sprinkle breadcrumbs evenly on top.
  10. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the top is bubbly and golden brown.
  11. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
