  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt (5 grams)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) ground white pepper (1 gram)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) ground black pepper (1 gram)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) garlic powder (1 gram)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) onion powder (1 gram)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-2 fresh red or green chilies, sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) soy sauce (5 milliliters)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) sesame oil (5 milliliters)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, combine cornstarch, baking powder, salt, white pepper, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Add the shrimp to the cornstarch mixture and toss until well coated.

  6. Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and drain on paper towels.
  7. In a separate pan, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat.
  8. Add minced garlic and sliced chilies to the pan, sauté for about 1 minute.
  9. Add the crispy shrimp to the pan and toss with the garlic and chilies.
  10. Add chopped green onions, soy sauce, and sesame oil to the shrimp, and toss to combine.
  11. Cook for another minute to allow flavors to meld together.
  12. Remove from heat and serve immediately.
