Rich and cheesy mussels baked to perfection with a creamy garlic mayonnaise sauce.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise (using Kewpie Japanese mayo)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (or vinegar)
- 1 pound mussels in the half-shell
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F and set the rack in the middle position.
- Combine the mayonnaise, garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, and lemon juice in a small bowl.
- Place the mussels on a baking sheet with the shell on the bottom.
- Spoon the mayo sauce over the mussels and sprinkle some shredded cheese on top.
- Bake the mussels for 8-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and starting to brown in some spots.
Notes
Allow mussels to sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before baking for even cooking. Reserve some sauce for drizzling before serving.
