Description

A vibrant California roll sushi bowl featuring sticky sushi rice topped with imitation crab, avocado, cucumber, carrots, and green onions, all drizzled with soy sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sushi rice
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces imitation crab meat or cooked crab
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1/2 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 carrot, shredded
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Soy sauce, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, combine rice and water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 10 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Stir this mixture into the cooked rice and let it cool slightly.
  5. In serving bowls, layer the sushi rice at the bottom.
  6. Top with crab, avocado, cucumber, carrot, and green onions.
  7. Drizzle with soy sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Chill ingredients for a refreshing bite. Use a rice cooker for convenience. Try adding edamame or pickled ginger for extra flavor.
