Description

A vibrant dish combining the robust flavors of Cajun seasoning with the sweetness of honey, perfect as a main course or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • lbs raw jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1½ tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 tbsp salted butter
  • 34 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme (or 2 tsp dried)
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp salted butter (for the glaze)
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Kosher salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry, ensuring they are moisture-free.
  2. Toss the shrimp with Cajun seasoning and black pepper, covering them evenly.
  3. Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add shrimp to the skillet, searing for about two minutes on each side until they turn opaque and slightly crispy.
  5. Once the shrimp is seared, add butter, minced garlic, fresh thyme, and lemon zest to the skillet.
  6. Cook the mixture for an additional one to two minutes, allowing the garlic to brown slightly and the flavors to meld.
  7. Stir in lemon juice for a bright finish, and then remove the pan from heat.
  8. In a separate pan, melt honey with the remaining butter, cayenne pepper, chili powder, smoked paprika, and salt.
  9. Once the glaze is well combined, drizzle it over the shrimp.
  10. Serve immediately, garnished with flaky salt and your choice of sides.

Notes

Choose large, plump shrimp for optimal texture. Marinating the shrimp in Cajun seasoning for 30 minutes enhances flavor.
