Description

A luxurious dish featuring black cod glazed with a buttery miso sauce, perfect for special dinners or impressing guests.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Miso Paste
  • 2 tbsp Mirin (or substitute with 1.5 tbsp sweet sherry + 0.5 tbsp sugar)
  • 2 tbsp Sake (premium for best flavor)
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce (low-sodium works well)
  • 4 fillets Black Cod Fillets (freshest for best flavor)
  • 1 tbsp Cooking Oil (optional, for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the miso paste, mirin, sake, brown sugar, and soy sauce until a smooth glaze forms.
  3. Generously coat the black cod fillets with the miso marinade.
  4. Place the coated fillets in a shallow dish, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. If desired, lightly grease a baking dish with cooking oil to prevent sticking.
  7. Arrange the marinated black cod in the dish and roast in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Remove the dish from the oven and let it rest briefly before serving.

Notes

For maximum flavor, use fresh black cod and consider marinating overnight. Pair with steamed rice and stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.
