Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) gnocchi (450 grams)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) unsalted butter (115 grams)
  • 8 ounces (227 g) imitation crab meat, picked over for shells (225 grams)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) grated plant-based Parmesan cheese (50 grams)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice (15 milliliters)
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) red pepper flakes
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) chopped fresh parsley (8 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil (15 milliliters)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add the gnocchi to the boiling water.
  3. Cook the gnocchi until they float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the gnocchi to a plate.
  5. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  6. Add the butter to the skillet and cook until it turns golden brown.
  7. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  8. Add the crab meat to the skillet and cook, stirring gently, for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Season with red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
  10. Add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet and toss to coat.
  11. Stir in the lemon juice and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  12. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the chopped parsley.
  13. Serve the gnocchi topped with the remaining Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • For a more indulgent taste, opt for real crab meat over imitation.
  • Enhance the dish with a splash of fresh lemon juice before serving.
  • Elevate the presentation and flavor by sprinkling extra chopped parsley as a garnish.
