Description

A delightful blackened salmon dish infused with spicy Cajun flavors, perfect for busy weeknights or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 4 skinless salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lemon (for serving)
  • Kickin’ Cajun Seasoning Mix:
  • 1 ½ teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine all the Kickin’ Cajun Seasoning Mix ingredients. Set aside.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and rub both sides generously with the Cajun seasoning.
  3. Heat a large cast-iron or stainless-steel skillet over medium-high heat. Add butter and olive oil.
  4. Once the fat is hot and shimmering, carefully add the salmon fillets.
  5. Cook undisturbed for 3–4 minutes until a dark, flavorful crust forms on the bottom. Flip and cook the other side until the salmon is cooked through, about 3–4 minutes more.
  6. Remove from heat and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the fillets before serving.

Notes

Serve with arugula or roasted vegetables. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
