Description

A flavorful blackened salmon recipe that brings the essence of coastal cuisine to your kitchen with robust spices and a perfect sear.

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the spices: paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and oregano. Add salt and black pepper to taste.
  2. Preheat your cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the melted butter, ensuring it coats the skillet evenly.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Sprinkle the spice mixture generously on both sides of each fillet, pressing gently for better adhesion.
  4. Place the salmon skin-side down in the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes, allowing the spices to develop a dark, crispy coating.
  5. Carefully flip the salmon using a spatula and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.

Notes

For maximum flavor, let the spice mixture sit on the fish for a few minutes before cooking. Adjust cayenne pepper amount for less heat.
