Description

Crispy shrimp coated in a sweet and spicy sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined with tails removed
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup high-quality mayonnaise
  • 1 ½ tablespoons Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 1-2 teaspoons Sriracha hot sauce, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine the shrimp, buttermilk, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper in a medium bowl and let marinate for about 10 minutes.
  2. Prepare a shallow dish with cornstarch for dredging.
  3. Shake off the excess marinade from each shrimp and coat thoroughly in cornstarch.
  4. Transfer the coated shrimp to a baking sheet, organizing them for frying.
  5. Heat 1 ½ inches of oil to 350°F in a large pot.
  6. Fry the shrimp in three batches for around 2 minutes until golden brown, ensuring they reach an internal temperature of 145°F.
  7. Drain the shrimp on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  8. Mix mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and Sriracha in a large bowl.
  9. Add the fried shrimp to the bowl and toss gently to coat.
  10. Serve immediately for an unforgettable experience.

Notes

Adjust Sriracha for heat preference. Serve with extra sauce for dipping.
