Crispy Bang Bang Shrimp with a sweet and spicy sauce, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined, tails removed)
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 3/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup high-quality mayonnaise
- 1 ½ tablespoons Thai sweet chili sauce

Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the shrimp, buttermilk, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
- Add the cornstarch to a shallow dish.
- Working one shrimp at a time, remove it from the marinade and shake off excess liquid. Dredge in cornstarch until fully coated and transfer to a baking sheet.
- Heat 1 ½ inches of oil to 350°F in a large pot.
- Fry the shrimp in batches for about 2 minutes, until golden brown and crispy, ensuring internal temperature reaches 145°F.
- Transfer the fried shrimp to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
Notes
For extra flavor, garnish with chopped scallions or sesame seeds. Adjust Sriracha for desired spiciness.
