Description
A delightful dish featuring flakey tilapia fillets enhanced with lemon zest and parmesan, perfect for family gatherings or weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- Tilapia Fillets: 1.5 – 2 lbs (about 4-6 fillets)
- Fresh Lemons: 2 medium-sized
- Parmesan Cheese: ½ cup, grated
- Olive Oil: 3 tablespoons, extra virgin
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Dried Oregano: 1 teaspoon
- Dried Parsley: 1 teaspoon
- Salt: ½ teaspoon, or to taste
- Black Pepper: ¼ teaspoon, freshly ground, or to taste
- Optional: Breadcrumbs (Panko or Regular): ¼ cup for extra crispy topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Zest one lemon and juice it, collecting 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice. Slice the other lemon into thin rounds.
- Rinse and pat dry the tilapia fillets to ensure the parmesan mixture adheres well.
- Combine grated parmesan, minced garlic, lemon zest, dried oregano, and dried parsley in a small bowl. In another bowl, whisk together olive oil and lemon juice.
- Brush each tilapia fillet with the lemon-olive oil mixture, sprinkle the parmesan mixture on top, and press lightly. Top with lemon slices.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the fish flakes easily and is opaque. Broil for an additional 1-2 minutes for a golden crust.
- Let the tilapia rest briefly before serving.
Notes
For extra crispiness, consider adding panko breadcrumbs to the cheese mixture. Always ensure the fish is dried completely before adding any toppings.
