Description
A delightful baked halibut dish featuring a crispy panko herb crust that enhances the natural flavors of the fish.
Ingredients
- 2 halibut fillets (about 6 oz each)
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon dill, chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- (Optional) 1 garlic clove, minced
- (Optional) ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly oil it.
- Pat halibut fillets dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
- In a medium bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan, parsley, dill, olive oil, lemon zest, salt, and pepper.
- Place halibut fillets on the baking sheet. Spoon the panko mixture on top and press gently to adhere.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until fish flakes easily with a fork and topping is golden brown.
- (Optional) Broil for 1–2 minutes for an extra-crispy crust.
- Remove from the oven, rest for 2 minutes, and serve with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
Notes
For the crispiest crust, allow the halibut to rest after baking. Customize the herb topping for varied flavors.
