Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (450 grams)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce (60 milliliters)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey (30 milliliters)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) sesame oil (30 milliliters)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh ginger, grated (15 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lime juice (15 milliliters)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) chili sauce (5 milliliters)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) sesame seeds (30 grams)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped green onions (25 grams)
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into chunks
  • Wooden skewers

Instructions

  1. Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, lime juice, and sriracha sauce.
  3. Whisk the mixture until well combined to form the marinade.
  4. Place the shrimp in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.
  5. Pour the marinade over the shrimp, ensuring they are well coated.
  6. Seal the bag or cover the dish, and refrigerate for 30 minutes to marinate.
  7. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  8. Thread the marinated shrimp onto the soaked wooden skewers, alternating with chunks of red bell pepper.
  9. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  10. Place the shrimp skewers on the grill and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until the shrimp are opaque and cooked through.
  11. Remove the skewers from the grill and transfer to a serving platter.
  12. Sprinkle the skewers with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  13. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Marinate the shrimp for enhanced flavor by extending the time up to 2 hours.
  • Add extra vegetables like cherry tomatoes or zucchini to the skewers for a vibrant and nutritious touch.
  • Adjust the chili sauce amount to suit your preferred level of spiciness or omit it for a milder dish.
