Description

A culinary delight featuring bold flavors and a creamy avocado crema, perfect for seafood lovers.

Ingredients

  • 4 (6 ounce) tuna steaks, 1-inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons blackening seasoning
  • 1 large ripe avocado
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels.
  2. Rub each side with olive oil, then generously coat with blackening seasoning.
  3. Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until smoking hot, about 5 minutes.
  4. Place the tuna steaks in the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes per side for rare, adjusting the time as desired.
  5. While the tuna cooks, prepare the avocado crema by blending avocado, sour cream or Greek yogurt, lime juice, minced garlic, and salt until smooth.
  6. Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes.
  7. Serve the tuna steaks topped with avocado crema and garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.

Notes

Let the tuna marinate with the blackening seasoning for at least 30 minutes for deeper flavor. Rest the tuna after cooking to preserve juiciness.
