Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (450 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil (30 milliliters)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey (60 milliliters)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce (60 milliliters)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cups (480 ml) cooked rice (370 grams)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) green onions, chopped (25 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) sesame seeds (9 grams)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste


Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add shrimp to the skillet and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque.
  4. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil.
  6. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  7. Stir in honey and soy sauce, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
  8. Add shrimp back into the skillet, tossing to coat with the sauce.
  9. Simmer shrimp in the sauce for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  10. Prepare serving bowls by placing 1 cup of cooked rice in each.
  11. Top each bowl with the honey garlic shrimp.
  12. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  13. Serve immediately and enjoy.
