Description

Learn how to make delicious 10 Minute Honey Garlic Shrimp with this quick and easy recipe. Perfect for a flavorful weeknight meal!

Ingredients

  • – 1 lb (450g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • – 1 tbsp (15 ml) light soy sauce
  • – 1 tbsp (15 ml) cornstarch
  • – 2 tbsp (30 ml) vegetable oil
  • – 3-4 cloves garlic
  • – 1 tbsp (15 ml) ginger paste or grated ginger
  • – 4 tbsp (60 ml) honey
  • – 1/4 tsp (1 ml) chili flakes, optional
  • – 2 green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the soy sauce and cornstarch, then add the shrimp, stirring to ensure they are well coated. Let them rest until you’re ready to cook. (This technique, known as “velveting” in Chinese cuisine, helps keep tender meats like shrimp and chicken from becoming dry during cooking.)
  2. Warm the oil in a non-stick skillet, then sauté the minced garlic and ginger for no more than 30 seconds over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side, depending on their size.
  3. Drizzle in the honey and, if you like, add some chili flakes. Stir to cover the shrimp evenly, then remove from the heat. Garnish with chopped green onions. Serve over rice or as an appetizer.

Notes

  • – Cook the shrimp until they are just pink and opaque, being careful not to overcook.
  • – Adjust the amount of honey to suit your preference for sweetness.
  • – Enhance the dish with additional vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas for added color and texture.
